LOLcat TV
Here is my latest pet project: LOLcat TV. Simply put this is a web scraper for http://icanhascheezburger.com that uses jQuery for the AJAX calls, DOM parsing and the effects. Keep in mind that it is an early _alpha_ version of it so don’t let it run for too long 
Javascript leaks and stuff… I shall debug it soon and release an improved version of it. If the icanhascheezburger.com team find my usage of their work inappropriate I will promptly take it down upon request. Until then, cheers!

Update (27/01/2008): Just tried running it in my Wii (Opera) browser and it works great! 
I’ll let it run for a while just for fun. I wonder if it will crash it too.

Google Maps funnies
I’ve came across this while using the Page Up key to navigate up on a map… I wonder where they get these figures
My first guess is that when the center point latitude break the 90 barrier they limit the way you can move out of the map by diminishing the scaling so you’re never too far for the map. But then again, it is not. I’m puzzled.

Je tiens à remercier notre éternel Joe Dassin, que son âme repose en paix, de me rappeller que le Québec est le beau plus pays au monde. Des paysages hospitaliers, loin des bombes, des génocides, des famines. On oublie souvent à quel point on est chanceux, surtout lorsque la grisaille s’acharne sur nous comme ce mois ci. Pourtant, aucuns d’entre nous n’a été torturé, personne n’a vu sa liberté d’expression réprimée, il n’y a pas eu d’exécutions sur la place publique. Certainement, pour certaines personnes les temps ont été moins roses, mais notre contexte nous permet d’espérer que tout est possible. Certes j’ai régulièrement l’impression que nous nous complaisons dans notre morosité actuelle tant qu’elle est peuplée de biens de consommation, mais il s’agit de sensibiliser les gens. Je comprends mieux maintenant ce qui peut amener des gens vers la politique et le bénévolat, le don de soi. Il s’agit de se donner une voix au-dessus du bruit qui nous entoure.
Et j’ai définitivement dérapé, je m’en excuse, mais je suis heureux ce soir d’être Québecois. Je suis heureux d’être libre de me balader dans les rues sans appréhender l’apparition d’un camp comme de l’autre (une guerre fait rarement de cadeaux à ses hôtes). Je suis heureux de savoir que la neige va recouvrir le sol avant la fête païenne de tradition chrétienne que nous appellons Noël.
Je vous prie de m’excuser mais je rejoinds mes quartiers moelleux pour la nuit.
